Newbury Soup Kitchen

What do they do?
Prepare and provide healthy food, as well as delivering outreach to marginalised groups and those experiencing poverty in Newbury and West Berkshire. They give support and build relationships to help people improve their situation.
Mission Statement
“Newbury Soup Kitchen strives to help people who are marginalised and experiencing poverty in Newbury and West Berkshire. We do this by providing a broad spectrum of healthy food provision and outreach. This is catered around the whole person: physically, emotionally, and socially.

We spend time with people who need support, encouragement and sympathy helping to improve their situation and future.

It is very important to us that everyone is treated with respect, kindness and treated as equals, not often experienced by many of our clients in their everyday lives.”

What do they do?
Offer support for disabled children up to 18 years old and their families. This includes respite, youth clubs, sibling support and family play sessions. Support is tailored to individual needs and helps to support the entire family.

“Our mission is to provide an emotional and psychological wellbeing support service for young people aged 11-25 and parents. This is delivered through quality-controlled counselling, a supported online programme and community outreach activities.
Clients should be connected to West Berkshire (resident, in education/training, working or registered with a GP there). This service is free at the point of delivery and helps our clients deal with their specific challenges in a sustainable and confidential way.”

What do they do?
Provide mental health support to young people aged between 11-25 and their parents in West Berkshire. With around 30 BACP registered councellors, they are able to provide support to over 600 young people a year.
