How to Keep Your Workplace Hydrated This Summer: Tips for Every Industry

Staying hydrated is important all year round, but especially in the heat of summer. Dehydration can affect your productivity, energy and concentration throughout the day, making it harder to do your job well. We've been in the water and beverage industry for over 40 years, so we've built up some tips that are useful for staying well hydrated in the workplace.

  1. Make sure you have easy access to water — having a water cooler or coffee machine near your staff helps to remind them to drink more throughout the day. The easier it is to access, the more people will drink.

  2. Reusable bottles — encourage your staff to use glasses or reusable bottles. The process of refilling once you've finished helps to encourage water consumption and is a more sustainable choice for your business.

  3. Chilled water is more appealing — cold water is often a more refreshing choice during the hotter months. A mains-fed water cooler ensures there is always a supply of chilled water available without the need to replace bottles.

  4. High demand requires high capacity — if you are running a busy hotel or leisure facility with constant use or high demand periods, you will need a water cooler that can cope. Choosing a high-capacity water cooler means you'll never run dry during peak times.

  5. Aim for 6-8 glasses a day — this helps to maintain normal levels of hydration. If you are working outside in the sun or in a physically demanding role, more should be consumed to prevent dehydration.

If you are wondering how to implement some of these changes, take a look at some of our most popular water coolers and fountains below:

ArcticChill 108

The ArcticChill 108 mains-fed water cooler is a chilled only cooler, meaning it provides refreshing cold water on demand. Its 29cm dispensing height allows even sports bottles to be refilled with ease, making it a great choice for gyms, leisure facilities and schools.

Font 50

If you don't require chilled water but need high volumes, the Font 50 water fountain could be the ideal option. This wall-mounted fountain provides filtered water directly from your mains supply, so there is no waiting for water to chill. It also features a built-in LED bottle counter, showing exactly how many plastic bottles have been saved from landfill, making it a great choice for businesses with sustainability goals.
